It’s Time for Camp!

For everyone who doesn’t have a chance to write a novel in November, NaNoWriMo has started a new challenge: Write a novel during either July or August! (Or write a novel during both months, if you’re crazy.)

The rules and requirements are the same: 50,000 words by the end of the month. You can personalize your goal if you’d like. The Camp NaNoWriMo website doesn’t have all its features yet, but in August, they’ll all be there for your enjoyment.

I’m doing the July session and my word count is 8,426 so far. The novel is half based on a remake of a very old (and very bad) story I wrote in the seventh grade and half based on a bizarre dream I had last week. I’m not sure if I’ll do anything with it after July, but it’ll keep me writing and will give me something fun to think about aside from the trenches of revision.

So… if you want to write a novel this summer, the second Camp NaNo session begins on August 1! 🙂

        1. It’s art for art’s sake, pretty much. The social aspect of NaNoWriMo is the only thing that really motivates some people. And, as with anything else, some people are going to love it, some are going to hate it, and many others will fall in between. 🙂
