The Thursday Three #13

  1. It’s kind of early to be thinking about NaNoWriMo, but because they are sending me exciting emails about the craziness about to go down in November, I’ve had it on my mind. I know that I will finish PAUL, which I started for Camp NaNo this past April, but what’s left may not be enough to constitute 50,000 words, so I will probably move on to the story after PAUL. And I have no idea what that story will be yet.
  2. Random musing: The more “busy” you are, the more “important” you will seem to someone else. I feel like a lot of the times when we are “busy,” we’re really just hamsters running around on wheels: we only think we’re busy, but we’re not actually getting anything accomplished. Almost like how multitasking is a great method for doing many things badly. I also realized that the people who are the most likely to tell you that you should relax and not be so busy are the ones who already make you look bad by being constantly busy and more “productive.”
  3. My alma mater sponsors a short story contest every year, and entry is free, so I figured I might as well pull something together and submit. I have what I think is a good idea, but I have not yet actually written anything, so it remains to be seen whether I will manage to submit something before the deadline (October 12). I’m motivating myself with the facts that (1) the story only has to be 1,200 words and (2) I was a finalist in this particular contest a few years back, so the odds may be somewhat in my favor.

Hope you are all having a good week!
