March Writing Update

Happy March! Spring is in the air, as evidenced by our unseasonably warm temperatures in North Carolina (although with our state’s weather, this really isn’t surprising). In terms of writing, I have been majorly slacking off during the week, when I told myself I would write 500 words a day. To make up for that, I’ve been writing 2,000 words on Saturday and Sunday. It’s been fairly easy to reach that goal if both of the following conditions are met: (1) I unplug the Internet so I am not distracted, and (2) I am not interrupted, which means writing from about 7 to 8 a.m. I found that I can meet my word count goal in about 40 minutes if I write continuously. The story I’m working on now (tentatively titled “See Them Break,”* although I’ll probably change it to match the rest of the series, which are all titled after male biblical characters) has been very easy to write, despite being a first draft, probably because I have been working with the same characters for a very long time now.

I also had plans to flesh out two new story ideas** I got in November/December, but those have fallen by the wayside for the moment. Camp NaNoWriMo is coming up next month, so I’m thinking that would be a good excuse to actually put one of my ideas into writing.

Hope your 2016 is going well and you’re still working on your goals!

*The title is derived from the lyrics to “Doll Parts” by Hole. Well worth a listen if you haven’t heard it before.
**These are totally new stories that have nothing to do with any existing series, which is rare for me.

  1. My mind has been wrapped around a story propelling me to write. Bad thing is its not the story I need to be writing on. Blarg… Camp Nano is gonna propel me to finish the story on the forefront!! Good luck!!
